The only variation from the original Nikonos, was the EP/diamond mark applied to the rewind knob. EP is commonly thought to stand for ‘Exchange Post’ and was used to mark cameras which were sold in Japan through foreign military base stores. These cameras may not have been subject to local sales taxes etc.

Relatively few of these EP cameras come onto the market, when they do, they can sell for considerably more than a standard (non-EP) camera in similar condition.
