Calypso PHOT

From the advertising in the images below, the Calypso PHOT labelled camera appears to be identical to the Series 1 Calypso with the exception of the ‘Calypso PHOT’  nameplate affixed below the lens.

Could this camera be the Spiro with a coat of black paint, new grips and a Calypso PHOT nameplate? Was this the final stage before the evolution of the Calypso, as we know it?

As can be seen on the original packaging and various pieces of advertising literature etc., the name Calypso PHOT was used throughout the life of the camera. However, no camera labelled Calypso PHOT, has been publicly recorded.

It was common practice, around this time, for companies to advertise products well in advance of their actual release dates. These products often varied significantly from those depicted in the original advertising. Was this the case with the Spiro / Calypso PHOT / Calypso?
